MBA and MJ/MBA Dual FAQs

Requiring only 33 credit hours completed through 8 core courses and 3 elective courses, the online MBA from Widener University may be completed in as little as 18-24 months.
Through this accelerated course of joint study, students can complete both degrees in as little as 2 ½ years (combined required credits are reduced from 62 to 48).

The general online MBA and business process innovation concentration do not require students to participate in any on-campus activities or residency. However, health care management students without prior experience in the industry are required to complete an internship locally.

Additionally, all online students are welcome to attend any on-campus events of interest such as career fairs, recruiting opportunities, and graduation ceremonies.

The MBA consists of 33 credit hours at $1,004 per credit.
Our Dual MJ/MBA program consists of 48 credit hours. 8 Jurisprudence and 8 business courses (3 credits each). The cost per credit hour varies depending on the type of course. Jurisprudence cost per credit hour is $1,056 and the business course cost per credit hour is $1,004.
Widener University requires MBA candidates to meet a few basic and professional competencies. Candidates must have:
  • A bachelors degree
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.7
  • A minimum GMAT score of 450*
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 95 for international students
*Note: GMAT waiver may be available for those with five years of relevant work experience, a master’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution and/or an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.

Candidates must submit a statement of purpose and two recommendation forms at time of application.

No, but students with a degree from a non-business background may be required to complete up to five foundation prerequisite courses. See curriculum page for a list of foundation courses.
A bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA is recommended.

Students seeking the dual degree have a conditional GMAT Waiver. Students are expected to maintain sufficient academic progress in the MJ portion of the dual degree. In the event that sufficient progress is not made in the MJ portion, a student will be required to take the GMAT and earn a 450 or higher to continue in the MBA program.
Yes. Students with five years of relevant work experience, a master’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution and/or an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher may be able to waive the GMAT requirement.
Widener’s online MBA does not require an undergraduate degree in business, but students with a non-business undergraduate degree will need to complete foundation courses.
Five years of relevant work experience may override Widener’s required GMAT minimum of 450 for the online MBA program.
There are no professional requirements for the MJ/MBA dual degree program.
Yes. The business process innovation concentration prepares students for the Certified Business Process Professional certification governed by the Association of Business Process Management Professionals.

The MJ program has the distinction of being accredited by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). The MBA is accredited by the AACSB.
Yes. Financial Aid is available for undergraduate or graduate students primarily in the form of federal loans.To apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Widener University’s FAFSA code is 003313. Employer tuition reimbursement arrangements are available to qualified students with employer documentation.
Widener participates in educational benefit programs offered through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the Yellow Ribbon Program, and offers matching tuition assistance to eligible undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, Montgomery GI Bill and Post 9-11 Bill benefit programs are available to qualified veterans.
